As COVID-19 control measures were lifted across China, infection rates rose sharply and public anxiety increased. To address these concerns, the International Culture Federation (ICF), with CCPH as co-organizer, held an online health lecture titled Understanding COVID-19 and Nutritional Strategies for Recovery.
The session featured Julia Wong, Director and Registered Nutritionist of JunJun Nutritionist Office, and Peace Wei, Director and Certified Health Manager of Huaning Health Management Institute (Québec). They shared professional insights on the biology of coronaviruses, the immune system’s role in viral defense, and practical cases in which functional nutrition was used to support recovery from COVID-19 symptoms.
Julia Wong introduced the key clinical symptoms of COVID-19, focusing on the prevalent Omicron variant—such as fever, sore throat, nasal congestion, headache, and muscle pain—and emphasized that reinfection remains possible even after previous exposure. The lecture also discussed recent studies linking repeated infections to long-term complications, including cardiovascular, metabolic, and cognitive disorders.
The event brought together licensed nutritionists from both Canada and China, trainees from ongoing CPN programs, and members of the public interested in evidence-based health management. It successfully enhanced awareness of nutritional approaches for immune support and post-infection recovery, reflecting CCPH’s commitment to advancing public health education through international collaboration.
